- For Algeria, a grant of 2 500 000 ECU for training in the forestry sector Algeria has a total of approximately 1.3 million ha of forest, 700 000 ha of forestry plantation and 2 million ha of scrub ; the forestry services are faced with the problem of managing wooded areas which are dwindling under the pressure of uncontrolled illegal exploitation and with the task of improving and protecting these areas in order to stabilize and increase national wood production and thus reduce the country's dependence on imports of wood and wood products. The aim of this project is to carry out a stage-by-stage reform of Algeria's forestry training structure by providing support for four training centres (at Telagh, Jijel, Geni-Slimane and Batna).
* Algérie - Formation dans le secteur forestier - 2 500 000 Ecus - Aide non remboursable ------------------------------------------------ Face à un patrimoine forestier constitué d'environ 1,3 mio Ha de forêts, 700 000 ha de plantations et 2 mio Ha de maquis, le secteur forestier est confronté au problème de la gestion de ces massifs boisés en voie de régression sous le poids des charges abusives et mal contrôlées, et aux impératifs de la valorisation et de la protection de ces territoires pour stabiliser et augmenter la production ligneuse nationale dans la perspective de réduire les importations des bois et de ses dérivés dont l'Algérie est largement tributaire. Le but de ce projet vise à une réforme, par étape, de l'appareil de formation forestière algérien par un appui à 4 Centres de formations situés à TELAGH, JIJEL, BENI-SLIMANE et BATNA.
