That is why I quoted the historian Hobsbawm, who offers what I think is a very disturbing analysis of the evolution of society in the 20th century and thereby shows all the depth of the two chambers, how they complement each other and how important it is to have two chambers, one that meets electoral needs — I respect that, as that is the very nature of our system — and one that needs to convince itself of the importance of doing everything in its power to protect the minority rights that would not be protected if we did not take on this responsibility.
