(5)In this difficult economic and financial context, in April 2013, the Tunisian authorities and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed on a non-precautionary three-year Stand-By-Arrangement of SDR 1,150 million (Special Drawing Rights) in support of Tunisia's economic adjustment and reform programme, which was extended until the end of 2015.

Strongly condemns the attack on the Bardo Museum in Tunis on 18 March 2015, for which the Islamic State has claimed responsibility; is concerned about the enrolment capacity of terrorist networks in a country run by a national unity government involving the moderate Islamic party Ennahda; is also concerned about Tunisia's porous borders with Libya, which are used notably for drug and arms trafficking, and welcomes the latest cooperation between Tunisia and the EU and its Member States in this regard; remains worried by the huge influx of Libyan refugees into Tunisia, which is putting great pressure on the country’s stability, and welcomes their reception by Tunisia, which now has more than a million Libyan refugees; stresses the importance for the EU and for Tunisia of pursuing and strengthening their security cooperation, in particular by establishing joint security programmes; considers that it is vital for the Tunisian issue to be given more support, by making specific commitments including from an economic and investment point of view, in order to support the fragile democratic transition, mindful that it is in the interest of the entire region and of the EU that the Tunisian experiment succeeds; urges the Commission to underline the importance of democratisation and to send a symbolic message after the Arab uprisings by organising an EU-MENA summit in Tunis;

It was taken completely by surprise by the stream of refugees. Now, with the arrival of all those people who do not want to roll up their sleeves and rebuild their own country, Italy is being called on not to send back the Tunisian economic migrants.
On assiste à l’arrivée d’individus qui ne sont pas disposés à se retrousser les manches pour reconstruire leur pays et on demande à l’Italie de ne pas renvoyer les émigrés économiques tunisiens.

As for other forms of assistance, we have increased the allocation for cooperation with civil society. This will be combined with a reorientation of our assistance programmes to help the people more directly. Liberal policies alone cannot bring the needed economic and social welfare and wealth distribution for all the Tunisian people. So we are going to review with Tunisia our priorities, to take account of the new situation and adapt our assistance to their social needs.
Pour ce qui est des autres formes d’assistance, nous avons augmenté notre enveloppe pour la coopération avec la société civile. Cette mesure se doublera d’une réorientation de nos programmes d’aide pour un soutien plus direct aux populations. Des mesures réformistes ne peuvent pas à elles seules apporter le progrès économique et social nécessaire et la répartition des richesses en faveur de tous les Tunisiens. Nous allons donc revoir nos priorités avec la Tunisie, de manière à tenir compte de la situation nouvelle et à adapter notre aide à leurs besoins sociaux.

Gives its strong support to the peaceful democratic transition process in Tunisia and expresses its solidarity with the Tunisian people who, driven by legitimate democratic and economic aspirations, have brought their country to an historic political turning point; salutes the courage and determination of the Tunisian people and extends its condolences to the families of the victims;

Whereas as from 1 July 1969, the provisions of Regulation (EEC) No 1059/69 shall be substituted for those of Regulation No 160/66/EEC ; whereas those provisions do not, however, amend the system of protection introduced by the latter Regulation in respect of goods-imported into the Community from third countries ; whereas, in particular, Articles 6 and 7 of Regulation (EEC) No 1059/69 correspond to Article 12 of Regulation No 160/66/EEC ; whereas the laying down of special provisions for goods originating in Tunisia by reference to the provisions of Regulation (EEC) No 1059/69 is therefore consistent with Article 3 of Annex 1 to the Agreement establishing an Association between the European Economic Community and the Tunisian Republic;

Whereas, in accordance with Article 3 of Annex 1 to the Agreement establishing an Association between the European Economic Community and the Tunisian Republic, signed at Tunis on 28 March 1969, the Community must take all the measures required to ensure that, without prejudice to the levying of a variable component determined in accordance with Article 12 of Regulation No 160/66/EEC (2) no fixed component is levied on imports of goods coming under that Regulation which originate in Tunisia within the meaning of the Protocol on the definition of the concept of "originating" products and on methods of administrative co-operation, appended to the Agreement;
