The Commission's own internal reforms (see below) have already driven a sharp increase in entries on the Transparency Register: as of 1 March, there are 9286 entries in the current Transparency Register, up from 7020 on 31 October 2014, before the Commission took office and implemented these reforms.

Whereas the parties hereto have reviewed the Transparency Register (hereinafter ‘the register’) established by the agreement between the European Parliament and the European Commission of 23 June 2011 on the establishment of a transparency register for organisations and self-employed individuals engaged in EU policy-making and policy implementation pursuant to paragraph 30 of that agreement,

Recognises the role played by the Council since the establishment of the Transparency Register, and welcomes the fact that the Council has become involved, as an observer, in the process of keeping the Agreement of 23 June 2011 under review; however, in order to ensure transparency at all stages in the law-making process at Union level, reiterates its call to the Council to join the Transparency Register as soon as possible;
8. reconnaît le rôle joué par le Conseil depuis l'établissement du registre de transparence, et se félicite de la participation du Conseil en tant qu'observateur dans le processus de réexamen de l'accord du 23 juin 2011; renouvelle toutefois, dans le but d'assurer la transparence à tous les stades du processus législatif de l'Union , son appel au Conseil pour la participation de ce dernier au registre de transparence aussi rapidement que possible;

At present, the Council does not participate in the joint Transparency Register, although it does send an observer to meetings of the joint Transparency Register secretariat.

The new register will be launched on 1 January 2015 at the latest, and work has already started in the Joint Transparency Register Secretariat to implement the improvements.
