As a result I would have expected from the Commission that it would depart from the strict vision of the role of the regulation, by creating dynamism and proposing measures to better use the tools of the framework already at our disposal rather than proposing a brand new initiative, adoption of which by the co-legislators before the end of the legislature seems almost impossible.

I wish to say, Mr President, that Parliament’s initiative played an important role in this hostage being released and that we must continue to do all that we can to ensure that the remaining Portuguese hostages in Cabinda are also finally released.
