The JURI Committee as the committee responsible had informed the President that, in the light of the election of Marine Le Pen to the French National Assembly, the request for the waiver of her immunity which had been announced in plenary on 26 April 2017(minutes of 26.4.2017, item 6) no longer had a rationale, since Marine Le Pen no longer enjoyed immunity under the Protocol on the privileges and immunities of the European Union.

At its meeting of 12 July 2017, the JURI Committee undertook, in accordance with Rule 4(5), an assessment of the compatibility of the temporary mission entrusted by the Prime Minister of France to Arnaud Danjean concerning the start of the development of a strategic defence and national security review with the Act of 20 September 1976 and found that it was compatible with the Act.
