1. The first sentence of the third paragraph of the part entitled "General principles" is replaced by the following text: "Notwithstanding reference to any ingredient in Sections A and C or any processing aid in Section B, any processing practice, such as smoking, shall be carried out and any ingredient or such processing aid shall be used only in accordance with relevant Community legislation and/or national legislation compatible with the Treaty and, in the absence thereof, in accordance with the principles of good manufacturing practice for foodstuffs".

La première phrase du troisième paragraphe de la partie intitulée "Principes généraux" est remplacée par le texte suivant: "La référence à un ingrédient des parties A et C ou à un auxiliaire technologique de la partie B n'exclut pas l'obligation de respecter, lors de la mise en oeuvre d'un procédé de traitement, tel que le fumage, et de l'utilisation d'un ingrédient ou d'un auxiliaire technologique, la législation communautaire applicable en l'espèce et/ou la législation nationale compatible avec le traité ou, à défaut, les principes d'une bonne pratique en matière de fabrication de denrées alimentaires".
