It is meanwhile essential, in view of the tardy arrival of the Commission proposal, that Parliament should not introduce further delays into the procedure, since this would entail the risk of a legal vacuum (which could jeopardise receipt of funding by the beneficiaries, with adverse consequences that can easily be imagined). Our position is therefore that we should work for adoption at first reading.
