After the oil embargo in the early 1970s when there was concern about the security of supply into Montreal and points east of that, the federal government itself approached one of our major pipeline companies, at that time Interprovincial Pipeline, now Enbridge, requesting that they look at the feasibility of connecting Ontario to Montreal by pipeline.
Après l'embargo pétrolier du début des années 1970, lorsqu'on se préoccupait de l'approvisionnement de Montréal et des secteurs plus à l'est, le gouvernement fédéral lui-même avait contacté l'une de nos principales entreprises de pipeline, Interprovincial Pipeline à l'époque, devenu Enbridge, en lui demandant d'étudier la possibilité de construire un pipeline reliant l'Ontario à Montréal.
