1. In order that the Province may be in the same position as the original Provinces of Confederation are in virtue of section one hundred and nine of the British North America Act, 1867, the interest of the Crown in all Crown lands, mines, minerals (precious and base) and royalties derived therefrom within the Province and the interest of the Crown in the waters and water-powers within the Province under the North-west Irrigation Act, 1898, and the Dominion Water Power Act, and all sums due or payable for such lands, mines, minerals or royalties, or for interests or rights in or to the use of such waters or water-powers, shall, from and after the coming into force of this agreement and subject as therein otherwise provided, belong to the Province, subject to any trusts existing in respect thereof, and to any interest other than that of the Crown in the same, and the said lands, mines, minerals and royalties shall be administered by the Province for the purposes thereof, subject, until the Legislature of the Province otherwise provides, to the provisions of any Act of the Parliament of Canada relating to such administration; any payment received by Canada in respect of any such lands, mines, minerals or royalties before the coming into force of this agreement shall continue to belong to Canada whether paid in advance or otherwise, it being the intention that, except as herein otherwise specially provided, Canada shall not be liable to account to the Province for any payment made in respect of any of the said lands, mines, minerals or royalties before the coming into force of this agreement, and that the Province shall not be liable to account to Canada for any such payment made thereafter.

9. Calls on the Commission to ensure that all companies operating in the single market, including those transnational corporations the subsidiaries or supply chains of which are located in the EU, comply with all their legal obligations at both the national and EU level in order to ensure fair competition and maximise the benefits for EU consumers; calls on the Commission actively to promote responsible business conduct amongst EU companies operating abroad, with special focus given to ensuring strict compliance with all their legal obligations, stemming from either domestic laws or any bilateral or international legal obligations their business operations are subject to therein, not the least compliance with international standards and rules in the areas of human rights, labour and the environment; suggests, to this end, that the Commission should actively engage with its partners in developing and emerging countries in order to exchange best practices and know-how on the ways and means of improving the business environment and raising awareness about responsible business conduct;

WHEREAS by agreement made October 14, 1909, His Majesty, represented therein by the Minister of the Interior of Canada, pursuant to section 35 of The Dominion Lands Act, S.C. 1908, c. 20 and the Regulations made thereunder by Order in Council dated June 2, 1909, agreed, upon fulfilment by the Company of the conditions provided therein, to grant to the Company a licence to take, divert, store and use for power purposes all the waters of the Bow River, subject to the Regulations governing water-power rights then or thereafter in force and in accordance with the plans and specifications approved or to be approved by the Minister for the construction of works, the term of the licence to be 21 years subject to such renewal, however, as provided by the Regulations, the fee or rental to be the nominal sum of One Dollar ($1.00) and the annual rental of $1,500 to be paid to the Superintendent General of Indian Affairs as provided in the Letters Patent;

(4) Any such parcel of land, or any estate or interest therein, not within the exceptions hereinbefore mentioned, which has been held by the Corporation for a longer period than authorized by the foregoing provisions of this section without being disposed of, shall be forfeited to His Majesty for the use of Canada (5) The Corporation shall give the Secretary of State, when required, a full and correct statement of all lands, at the date of such statement, held by the Corporation, or in trust for it, and subject to the provisions of this section (6) This section shall apply only to lands and estates, or interests therein, which, by reason of the situation of such lands or otherwise, are subject to the legislative authority of the Parliament of Canada.
