Stresses, however, that the EU's Lisbon strategy currently addresses too many, often competing, objectives; urges the Commission, in the context of the Kok report and next spring's mid-term review, to invest significant political capital in streamlining and refocusing the Lisbon strategy on the central objective of generating sustainable growth and employment, with a more precise timetable for the achievement of its goals over the next five years;
4. souligne toutefois que, à l'heure actuelle, la stratégie de Lisbonne vise des objectifs trop nombreux, souvent antagonistes; engage instamment la Commission à consentir, dans le contexte du rapport Kok et de l'examen à mi-parcours qui doit avoir lieu au printemps prochain, un effort politique important de rationalisation de la stratégie de Lisbonne et de recentrage de cette stratégie sur l'objectif essentiel, à savoir la croissance durable et la création d'emplois, notamment en établissant un calendrier plus précis pour la réalisation de ses objectifs au cours des cinq prochaines années;
