- Mr President, the crass proposal by the Commission, in its original proposition, that they should control recreational fishing and require returns and licensing and everything else that goes with such bureaucracy, was one of the those proposals which, quite rightly, stirred huge opposition, not just in that sector, but amongst those who take an interest in matters pertaining to fishing and to EU bureaucracy.
− (EN) Monsieur le Président, la suggestion grossière formulée par la Commission dans sa proposition originale, prévoyant un contrôle de la pêche récréative et exigeant des déclarations, des licences et tout ce qui accompagne traditionnellement une telle bureaucratie, est l’une de ces propositions qui, à raison, ont provoqué une levée de boucliers, non seulement dans ce secteur, mais aussi parmi ceux qui s'intéressent aux questions de pêche et à la bureaucratie européenne.
