The Commission will invite the European Standardisation Organisations, through a standardisation mandate, to identify the actual status of standardisation work at European and international level in support of Intelligent Vehicle Safety Systems, to identify specific additional needs and priorities for standardisation and subsequently to prepare for a common standardisation work programme, taking into account the need to maintain coherence with activities such as standardisation in support of eEurope and standardisation in support of the technologies proposed Directive on interoperability for Electronic Fee Collection on European roads.

However, the wider aspects of ICT standardisation policy, including priority setting, the use of standardisation work from other sources as well as the coherence between the ICT standardisation policy and other policies making use of ICT standards, are largely outside the scope of SOGITS. Therefore, SOGITS only had a limited success in the past.

Such work should build on the on-going standardisation work of the European Standardisation Organisations (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI)[28], of the Cybersecurity Coordination Group (CSCG) as well as on the expertise of ENISA, the Commission and other relevant players.

2a. The European standardisation work programme referred to in paragraph 1 shall outline how the standardisation work is to be incorporated into the Europe 2020 strategy and how coherence between the latter and the work programme will be maintained.

Par conséquent, il convient, pour les besoins du marché intérieur et pour l'efficacité de la normalisation au sein de l'Union, de maintenir l'échange régulier d'informations sur les travaux de normalisation en cours et prévus qui existe actuellement entre les organisations nationales de normalisation, les organisations européennes de normalisation et la Commission, y compris les dispositions relatives au statu quo pour les organisations nationales de normalisation dans le cadre des organisations européennes de normalisation.

Therefore, it is necessary for the EU internal market and for the effectiveness of standardisation within the Union to confirm the existing regular exchange of information between the national standardisation entities, the European standardisation organisations and the Commission, about current and future standardisation work, and also about regulations on the standstill principle concerning their application to national standardisation entities under European standardisation organisations.
Par conséquent, il convient, pour les besoins du marché intérieur de l'Union et pour l'efficacité de la normalisation au sein de l'Union, de maintenir l'échange régulier d'informations sur les travaux de normalisation en cours et prévus qui existe actuellement entre les entités nationales de normalisation, les organisations européennes de normalisation et la Commission, de même que sur les dispositions relatives au principe de "standstill" quant à leur application aux entités européennes de normalisation dans le cadre du système européen de normalisation.

Therefore, it is necessary for the internal market and for the effectiveness of standardisation within the Union to confirm the existing regular exchange of information between the national standardisation bodies, the European standardisation bodies and the Commission, about current and future standardisation work.
