Whereas, pursuant to subsection 26(1) of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority Act, The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd. was incorporated as a subsidiary of The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority for the purpose of undertaking or carrying out any acts or things that the Authority was authorized to undertake or carry out under that Act;

(7) If a declaration of security is required under subsection (1) between a vessel and the operator of a lock in the St. Lawrence Seaway, it shall be completed on its entry into the first lock and remain in effect until the vessel exits the St. Lawrence Seaway at the St. Lambert Lock or the Welland Canal at Port Colborne.

If there were no information on the ship, then inspectors from the U.S. St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation and the Canadian St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation would board the ship and conduct a seaway inspection and risk assessment.

Motions By unanimous consent, it was ordered, That the Sub- Committee on the St. Lawrence Seaway of the Standing Committee on Transport be authorized to travel to Quebec City from May 23 to 25, 1994; to St. Catharines and Thunder Bay from May 31 to June 3, 1994; and to Washington, D.C., from June 6 to 7, 1994, for the purpose of holding informal hearings on the viability of the St. Lawrence Seaway, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Sub-Committee.
