As described above, international discussions have come a long way - from the basic recognition of social development as one of the pillars of sustainable development and the confirmation of the social dimension of globalisation in the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration for Social Development, through the WTO 1996 Singapore Ministerial Declaration, to the adoption in 1998 of the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
Comme mentionné précédemment, un long chemin a été parcouru dans les débats internationaux, de la reconnaissance du développement social comme l'un des piliers du développement durable à l'adoption, en 1998, de la déclaration de l'OIT relative aux principes et aux droits fondamentaux au travail, en passant par la confirmation de la dimension sociale de la mondialisation dans la déclaration de Copenhague de 1995 relative au développement social et dans la déclaration ministérielle de Singapour de 1996 adoptée dans le cadre de l'OMC.
