What is common between the position of the government and your party is that an unelected Senate is not justifiable; a Senate that is entirely undemocratic and appointed without any accountability to the people is not acceptable in a democratic society. Our hope, obviously, is that we can salvage the Senate by introducing a democratic element that has been absent until now by asking Canadians who they want to represent them.
