I would encourage the government, as imperfect as my bill is, to address the issue and to make an effort, through the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Minister of Finance, or whomever would be appropriate, to bring some fairness to the issue so that those livestock producers who have to sell off livestock the same as they would in a drought or in a flood situation would be able to retain that income in the following year to replace that livestock.
Aussi imparfait que soit mon projet de loi, j'encouragerais le gouvernement à s'attaquer à ce problème et à faire un effort, par l'intermédiaire du ministre de l'Agriculture et de l'Agroalimentaire, du ministre des Finances ou du ministre concerné, pour apporter une certaine mesure de justice dans ce dossier de sorte que les éleveurs qui doivent liquider leur bétail, tout comme ils auraient à le faire en cas de sécheresse ou d'inondation, puissent conserver ce revenu dans l'année suivante pour remplacer leur bétail.
