IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

1a. Horizon 2020 shall exclude legal entities (including any affiliated entities) whose participation, by the objectives they pursue, their place of establishment, the nature or the location of their activities, would cause the European Union to recognize as lawful or render aid or assistance in maintaining a situation created by a serious breach of international law (including international humanitarian law) where such breach has been established by a resolution of the United Nations Security Council or by a judgment or advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
1 bis. 2. Recognizes that sanctions and diplomatic measures could be helpful to bring the Iranian government to the acceptation and respect of UN resolutions avoiding the eventuality of a military intervention; taking in mind that these sanctions up to now have not resulted in an internationally desired outcome; regrets the ongoing refusal of China and Russia in the UN security Council to support sanctions against Iran;

Specifically, the Security Council recognized:

Recognizes the special economic importance of the African Continent for the PRC (30% of its oil imports, a growing market for Chinese military hardware), but also urges the Chinese leadership to uphold China's responsibilities as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and to promote good governance, democracy, the rule of law, respect for human rights and conflict prevention in its relations with African states;

(48) Whereas the objective of this Directive, which is to afford an appropriate and uniform level of protection of databases as a means to secure the remuneration of the maker of the database, is different from the aim of Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (7), which is to guarantee free circulation of personal data on the basis of harmonized rules designed to protect fundamental rights, notably the right to privacy which is recognized in Article 8 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms; whereas the provisions of this Directive are without prejudice to data protection legislation;
