In other words, if a farmer's tractor happens to harm either a habitat or a given animal and it was not the farmer's intent to do so but it simply happened in the course of his or her daily activities in order to put bread on the table, pay for the business and continue the family farm, the government over there, the Liberals, would say that the farmer should be held for criminal intent in doing that.
Je voudrais parler de toute la question du mens rea, de l'intention criminelle, de l'idée que les agriculteurs peuvent être tenus responsables de quelque chose qu'ils n'ont pas sciemment fait. Autrement dit, si un agriculteur tue accidentellement un animal ou détruit accidentellement un habitat avec son tracteur, dans le cours des activités quotidiennes qui lui permettent de mettre du pain sur la table, de payer son entreprise et de garder l'exploitation agricole familiale, le gouvernement libéral, en face, estime que cet agriculteur devrait être tenu criminellement responsable.
