It may well be that associations of atheists like the Humanist Association of Canada, or Rotary clubs, or religious groups of all sorts might be the appropriate place for marriages — yes, the Metropolitan Community Church as well for gay marriages — leaving it to the civil society associational groups to marry in accordance with their own lights and for the state to merely register through a non-secularized marker regime.
Des associations athées comme l'Association humaniste du Canada ou les clubs Rotary, ou encore des groupes religieux de toutes sortes pourraient fort bien se charger de célébrer les mariages — et l'Église communautaire métropolitaine pourrait célébrer des mariages gais. Les groupes associatifs de la société civile seraient ainsi libres de célébrer des mariages dans le respect de leurs convictions, l'État se contentant d'enregistrer les unions au moyen d'un système de marqueurs non sécularisé.
