Since the adoption of Directive 94/47/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 1994 on the protection of purchasers in respect of certain aspects of contracts relating to the purchase of the right to use immovable properties on a timeshare basis , timeshare has evolved and new holiday products similar to it have appeared on the market.
Depuis l’adoption de la directive 94/47/CE du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 26 octobre 1994 concernant la protection des acquéreurs pour certains aspects des contrats portant sur l’acquisition d’un droit d’utilisation à temps partiel de biens immobiliers , l’utilisation de biens à temps partagé a évolué et de nouveaux produits de vacances analogues sont apparus sur le marché.

The purpose of this Directive is to contribute to the proper functioning of the internal market and to achieve a high level of consumer protection, by approximating the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States in respect of certain aspects of the marketing, sale and resale of timeshares and long-term holiday products as well as exchange contracts.

La présente directive a pour objet de contribuer au bon fonctionnement du marché intérieur et de parvenir à un niveau élevé de protection des consommateurs en rapprochant les dispositions législatives, réglementaires et administratives des États membres pour certains aspects de la commercialisation, de la vente et de la revente de biens à temps partagé et de produits de vacances à long terme, ainsi que des contrats d’échange.

Since the adoption of Directive 94/47/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 1994 on the protection of purchasers in respect of certain aspects of contracts relating to the purchase of the right to use immovable properties on a timeshare basis (3), timeshare has evolved and new holiday products similar to it have appeared on the market.

Certain aspects of SIS II such as technical rules on entering data, including data required for entering an alert, updating, deleting and searching data, rules on compatibility and priority of alerts, the adding of flags, links between alerts and the exchange of supplementary information cannot be covered exhaustively by the SIS II Regulation and SIS II Decision, owing to their technical nature, level of detail and need for regular updating. Implementing powers in respect of those aspects should therefore be delegated to the Commission.
