States once again that, in view of the major crisis in the sector at present, the steel industry ought not to be bound solely by the market’s financial rules, which destroy jobs and productive capacities; calls therefore for the steel industry to be renationalised; stresses that, as things stand, only state control of the steel industry can guarantee both the sector’s future and the rights of its employees;

Broadly welcomes the Commission Communication ‘The CAP towards 2020: meeting the food, natural resources and territorial challenges of the future’; recognises the need for further reform of the CAP in line with the changing nature of the farming industry in the EU27 and the new international context of globalisation; calls for the continuation of a strong and sustainable CAP with a budget commensurate with the ambitious objectives to be pursued in an effort to meet the new challenges; firmly rejects any moves towards a renationalisation of the CAP;

45. Stresses that the proposals of the Commission and non-governmental transparency initiatives for the sector of extractive industries, e.g. the Natural Resource Charter, the Equator Principles and the Guidelines for Investors and Companies by ‘Critical Resource’, are in effect pro-business; they produce legal security and sustainable long-term partnerships and act as safeguards against renationalisation, reopening of negotiations or expulsion; notes that there are problems to be addressed as well, for instance the fact that businesses may have to disclose commercially sensitive information which puts them at a competitive disadvantage, or that some agreements with governments are based on information being kept secret;
45. souligne que les propositions de la Commission et les initiatives non gouvernementales sur la transparence relatives au secteur des industries extractives, comme la charte sur les ressources naturelles, les «principes de l'Équateur» et les lignes directrices par «ressource critique» pour les investisseurs et les entreprises, sont en réalité favorables à ce secteur; estime qu'elles instaurent la sécurité juridique, permettent des partenariats durables à long terme et constituent des garde-fous contre les renationalisations, les réouvertures de négociations ou les expulsions; est conscient que des problèmes restent à résoudre, comme l'obligation qui peut être imposée aux entreprises de divulguer des informations commercialement sensibles, ce qui nuit à leur compétitivité, ou le fait que certains accords avec des gouvernements reposent sur des informations tenues secrètes;
