As regards the aim pursued, Article 1(1) of the proposed Regulation indicates that it is intended to establish a Community system for registration of carriers of radioactive materials, which facilitate “the Member States’ task of ensuring that the basic safety standards for the protection of the health of workers and the general public against the dangers arising from ionising radiations laid down in Directive 96/29/Euratom are complied with”.
