In the current economic situation, and even with additional funding through the European Economic Recovery Programme which allocated around € 1 billion to CCS demonstration[35], the structural surplus in the ETS of around 2 billion allowances and subsequent prolonged low carbon prices and lower than anticipated funding through the NER300, industry simply does not have the incentives to make CCS demonstration viable, affecting negatively the potential for large scale deployment.
Dans la situation économique actuelle, et même avec une aide supplémentaire du plan européen pour la relance économique, qui a alloué environ 1 milliard d’euros à la démonstration du CSC[35], l’excédent structurel d’environ 2 milliards de quotas du SEQE, la faiblesse subséquente prolongée du prix du carbone et le financement moins élevé que prévu accordé par NER300 ne sont tout simplement pas de nature à inciter l'industrie à rendre la démonstration du CSC viable, ce qui compromet les perspectives de déploiement à grande échelle.
