The GALILEO Supervisory Authority ensures, in accordance with article 54, paragraph 2, point b) of Regulation (CE, Euratom) n° 1605/2002 of the Council of 25 June 2002 on financial regulation, and the requirements of Regulation (CE) n°./2004, the management and control of the use of Community funds allocated to the European programme of satellite radionavigation.

Following the failure of the concession contract negotiations, and due to the political and economical impact of the Programme, on 19 September 2007 the Commission presented the present amended proposal on the continuation and implementation of the European Programmes of Satellite navigation (GNSS and Galileo) as well as a proposal for a Decision that foresees that the Galileo Programme will be exclusively funded though Community Budget, as requested by the EP.
À la suite de l'échec des négociations du contrat de concession et en raison de l'importance politique et économique du programme, la Commission a présenté le 19 septembre 2007 la proposition modifiée ainsi qu'une proposition de décision prévoyant que le programme Galileo serait exclusivement financé par le budget communautaire, comme le réclamait le PE.

4. Calls for provisions which ensure that satellite programmes and satellite applications are available to the general public to be included in the amended directive, on the basis of the conclusions of the Commission’s work programme on the development of satellite television, and calls for the consistency of national arrangements and Community law to be re-examined in order to guarantee pluralism in the media;
