Writers are not preferred creditors, they have no security and they can seldom afford to litigate against a trustee or receiver who disputes the rights they do have. The Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, CCAA, makes no mention of copyright or books and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, BIA, less frequently applies or does not apply initially.
