For the start of the academic year 1994/1995, the financial support of the Community will allow the setting up of 53 new Jean Monnet "Chairs", a symbolic term relating to full time teaching posts entirely devoted to the teaching of European integration, 93 new permanent courses, compulsory within the university curriculum, 85 European modules and 5 research grants linked to the "Chairs".

In the framework of the Jean Monnet Project 1995, the European Commission has granted its support to 227 new university initiatives aimed at creating teaching activities in European integration from the start of the academic year 1995/1996, which will lead to the setting up of : - 56 new "Jean Monnet Chairs", corresponding to full time teaching posts entirely devoted to the teaching of European integration; - 64 new permanent courses, compulsory within the university curriculum; - 71 European modules; - 18 research grants and 18 Complementary Initiatives linked to the "Chairs". The total cost for the 1995 selection is of 1.228.050 ECU.

These projects will lead to the significant expansion of the European teaching activities created in Eastern Europe as a result of the first Jean 1 Composed of nine members representing the Liaison Committee of the National Conferences of Rectors/Vice Chancellors of the universities in the Member States and the Association of professors specialised in European integration studies - ECSA- Europe.
