The President of the Council of the European Union, Dutch Prime Minister Jan Pieter Balkenende has contacted the President of the Commission Romano Prodi and asked him officially to remain in office until the new Commission is voted in by the European Parliament.
Le président du Conseil de l'Union européenne, le Premier ministre néerlandais, M. Jan Pieter Balkenende, a pris contact avec le président de la Commission européenne, M. Romano Prodi, pour lui demander officiellement de rester en fonction jusqu'à l'installation de la nouvelle Commission après le vote d'investiture du Parlement européen.
