Bearing in mind that the ECSC Treaty was to expire in the year 2002, at its meeting on 24 November 1992 the Industry Council in particular called on the Commission to expedite its work on a set of measures aimed at, inter alia: - reducing the levy as far as possible; - phasing out loans granted under Articles 54 and 56 of the ECSC Treaty; - organizing,with due account being taken of social aspects, the takeover by financial institutions, notably the EIB, of some of the ECSC's financial activities.
