Welcomes the decision to hold early parliamentary elections in Ukraine on 26 October 2014 and expects the government to ensure free and fair elections; calls on Ukraine to establish transparency in the financing of parties and their political campaign and to address in full all the remarks referred to in the findings and conclusions of the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission for the recent presidential elections; calls upon all political parties currently represented in the Verkhovna Rada to take part in the elections and on all sides fully to respect their outcome; hopes for a strong majority for the important challenges and necessary reforms ahead; urges the rebel forces in eastern Ukraine not to obstruct the electoral process and to guarantee the fundamental right of Donbas residents to freely elect their representatives; is committed to sending election observers in order to monitor these elections and calls for a substantial international election monitoring mission to oversee this crucial election that will take place under ongoing difficult conditions;

G. whereas the level of representation of far-right, extreme nationalist and xenophobic politicians in the new Ukrainian Government is extremely worrying; whereas the new government is failing to control the infamous Right Sector; whereas the Communist Party of Ukraine, which has put forward a programme to preserve Ukraine’s unity while protecting the rights of all its citizens faces violent repression, and a legal ban of the party has been instigated, with the party recently being brought to the court;
G. considérant que le niveau de représentation des partis nationalistes et xénophobes d'extrême droite au sein du nouveau gouvernement ukrainien est extrêmement préoccupant; considérant que le nouveau gouvernement ne parvient pas à contrôler le parti nationaliste notoire "Secteur droit"; considérant que le parti communiste d'Ukraine, qui a présenté un programme visant à préserver l'unité du pays tout en protégeant les droits de tous ces citoyens, subit une violente répression et que le parti a récemment été traduit en justice en vue d'en obtenir l'interdiction officielle;

The Contracting Parties take note that, according to the nationality laws of Ukraine and the Member States, it is not possible for a Ukrainian or EU citizen to be deprived of his or her nationality without acquiring another nationality.
