2. Calls on the European Commission to launch a wide consultation with stakeholders on the cost, efficiency and feasibility of introducing at Community level a voluntary system of labelling in Braille format on the packaging of industrial products which would include, at least, information on the type of product and its expiry date in order to facilitate access for consumers with visual disabilities; given that not all blind people can read Braille, the proposed consultation should also investigate alternative ways of enabling access to information on packaging;
2. invite la Commission européenne à lancer une consultation avec toutes les parties prenantes sur le coût, l'efficacité et la faisabilité de l'instauration d'un système d'étiquetage volontaire en braille sur l'emballage des produits industriels au niveau de l'Union européenne, qui comprendrait au moins le type de produit et la date d'expiration afin d'aider les consommateurs atteints de déficience visuelle; constate toutefois que, comme tous les aveugles ne lisent pas le braille, la consultation proposée doit également examiner d'autres possibilités d'accès aux informations figurant sur l'emballage;

Written Declaration 0014/2011 tabled by Konstantinos Poupakis, Richard Howitt, Ádám Kósa, Eva Lichtenberger and Cecilia Wikström, on a voluntary system of labelling in Braille format on the packaging of industrial products, had been signed by a majority of Parliament's component Members and therefore, pursuant to Rule 123(3) and (4), would be forwarded to the addressees and published with the texts adopted at that sitting (P7_TA(2011)0299), with a record in the minutes of the names of the signatories (see Annex 1).
La déclaration écrite 0014/2011 déposée par les députés Konstantinos Poupakis, Richard Howitt, Ádám Kósa, Eva Lichtenberger et Cecilia Wikström sur un système d'étiquetage volontaire en braille sur l'emballage des produits industriels a recueilli les signatures de la majorité des membres qui composent le Parlement et sera, par conséquent, conformément à l'article 123, paragraphes 3 et 4, du règlement, transmise à ses destinataires et publiée dans les Textes adoptés de la présente séance (P7_TA(2011)0299) avec indication au procès-verbal du nom des signataires (voir annexe 1).
