Referring to the Committee of the Regions' contribution to the Community's work, Ms. Wulf-Mathies said that the Committee should be consulted as a matter of course on the Green (discussion) and White (strategy) Papers published by the European Commission. In addition, the forthcoming Intergovernmental Conference in 1996 should provide an opening for consolidating the Committee's consultative role and equipping it "with its own structure which will allow it to assert its specific identity vis-à-vis the Economic and Social Committee to a greater extent".
