A few months ago this European Commissioner once more advocated a massive improvement in relations with Cuba, even though all human rights organisations affirm that the Cuban state apparatus is lastingly geared towards curtailing the rights and freedoms of Cubans.
Il y a quelques mois, ce commissaire européen a une fois encore appelé à une forte amélioration des relations avec Cuba, même si toutes les organisations de protection des droits de l’homme affirment que l’appareil d’État cubain vise en permanence à limiter les droits et les libertés des Cubains.

In the light of continuing disturbing reports that some dissidents have suffered from ill-treatment and ill-health, the EU once again urges the Cuban authorities to comply with international human rights standards and norms for the treatment of prisoners.
Compte tenu de la persistance d'informations inquiétantes indiquant que certains dissidents ont fait l'objet de mauvais traitements et sont en mauvaise santé, l'UE demande une nouvelle fois aux autorités cubaines de respecter les normes internationales en matière de droits de l'homme et de traitement des prisonniers.

It may be desirable to continue dialogue with the Cuban people and their government, and to keep channels of communication open. Nonetheless, Mr President, I appeal to you once again to take up this cause and press for the release of these Cuban journalists, dissidents and human rights defenders.
C'est pourquoi, Monsieur le Président, indépendamment du fait qu'il soit essentiel de maintenir le dialogue et la capacité de dialogue avec le peuple cubain et avec son gouvernement, je vous demanderais de vous intéresser au sort de ces personnes et d'exiger la libération des journalistes, dissidents et défenseurs des droits de l'homme dans ce pays.
