The Somport road tunnel through the Pyrenees, which was opened at the beginning of 2003, is an example of such lack of cross-border planning, since the new motorway, financed by the Cohesion Fund on the Spanish side of border, turns into a old national road on the French side.
Le tunnel routier du Somport, à travers les Pyrénées, ouvert au début de 2003, offre l'exemple d'un tel manque de planification transfrontalière, puisque la nouvelle autoroute, financée par le Fonds de cohésion du côté espagnol de la frontière, se transforme en une vieille route nationale du côté français.
