Under the deal cleared by the Commission on June 8, 1998, the Commission found that Airtel Movil S.A was jointly controlled by British Telecom Plc (BT), Airtouch International (now Vodafone Airtouch Plc) and Spanish undertaking Grupo Acciona S.A. The current transaction will see Acciona loose the veto rights it held for certain decisive matters that gave it joint control of the venture.
