Some day someone will write about the recognition of D-Day, the beaches of Normandy and Juno Beach as part of our history.

On June 6 we will again have the privilege of recognizing our Canadian Armed Forces as we mark the seventieth anniversary of D-Day. Canadians from across the nation will, in their own communities, celebrate this particular date and a number will have an opportunity to return to Normandy to take part in the commemoration ceremonies that will recognize the sacrifice of our brave soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy at Juno Beach 70 years ago, on June 6.

On June 6, 1994 in his address to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion on Juno Beach in Normandy, France, the Prime Minister spoke these ringing phrases:

My grandfather was a World War I veteran. For those who may not be familiar with our charitable organization, the Juno Beach Centre Association, also referred to as the JBCA, is parent to the Juno Beach Centre museum located in Courseulles-sur-mer, Normandy, France.
