By letters of 16 January and 18 February 2004 the Council consulted Parliament under Article 57 of the Act of Accession on the proposal for a Council Regulation amending Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999 on support for rural development from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) (COM(2003) 806 – 2003/0312(CNS)).

Therefore, the rules set out in the present Regulation apply to such measures which form part of the programmes for Objective 2 regions except in so far as Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 1750/1999(7) laying down detailed rules for the application of Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999 provide otherwise.
Les règles définies dans le présent règlement s'appliquent donc aux mesures qui s'intègrent dans la programmation relative aux régions de l'objectif n° 2, sauf dispositions contraires prévues par le règlement (CE) n° 1257/1999 et le règlement (CE) n° 1750/1999 de la Commission(7) qui pose modalités d'application du règlement (CE) n° 1257/1999.

(6) Article 36(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999 provides that Regulation (EC) No 1260/1999 and the provisions adopted in implementation thereof apply, save as otherwise provided for under Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999, to rural development measures in areas covered by Objective 2 financed by the EAGGF (Guarantee section).
(6) L'article 36, paragraphe 1, du règlement (CE) n° 1257/1999 prévoit que le règlement (CE) n° 1260/1999 s'applique, sous réserve de dispositions contraires du règlement (CE) n° 1257/1999, aux mesures de soutien en faveur du développement rural dans les zones couvertes par l'objectif n° 2 financées par le FEDER (section "garantie").
