IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

The Commission of the European Communities has adopted a National Programme of Community Interest (NPCI) for the Tayside Region in Scotland under regulation (CEE)1787/84. Drawn-up by the Industry Department for Scotland and presented by the United Kingdom government, the Programme covers a package of measures for improving the economic situation of the area. The Tayside Region has been severely affected by the decline of the jute and textile industry and also by the restructuring of newer manufacturing activities, resulting in a considerable loss in manufacturing employment over recent years. The programme will provide the region with much needed infrastructure to strengthen its economic base and to enable the establishment of new job- creating enterprises. The total cost of the programme is UKL 41.492 million over the period January 1st, 1985 to December 31, 1988 and it will be financed with a maximum ERDF contribution of UKL 20.746 million, the balance coming from national public resources. The objectives of this NPCI are : - to increase job opportunities to replace jobs lost in manufacturing; - to remove bottlenecks in the communication network; - to provide services where they are needed to encourage investments in industry; - to improve the image of the area as an attractive location for business investments and tourism.
La Commission des Communautes europeennes a arrete, sur la base du reglement (CEE) no 1787/84, un programme national d'interet communautaire (PNIC en faveur de la Tayside Region en Ecosse. Etabli par l'"Industry Department for Scotland" et presente par le Gouvernement du Royaume-Uni, ce programme couvre un ensemble de mesure destinees a ameliorer la situation economique de la region. La Tayside Region a ete severement touchee par la declin de l'industrie du jute et du textile, ainsi que par la restructuration d'activites manufacturieres plus recentes, qui ont entraine des pertes d'emploi considerables dans le secteur manufacturier ces dernieres annees. Le programme fournira a la region les infrastructures qui lui sont imperieusement necessaires pour renforcer sa base economique et pour permettre l'etablissement de nouvelles entreprises creatrices d'emplois. Le cout total du programme est de 41 492 millions de UKL pour la periode du 1er janvier 1985 au 31 decembre 1988 et il sera finance avec un concours maximum du FEDER de 20 746 millions de UKL, le reste etant finance sur les ressources publiques nationales. Les objectifs de ce PNIC sont les suivants: - accroitre les possibilites d'emploi pour remplacer les emplois perdus dans l'industrie manufacturiere; - supprimer les goulets d'etranglement dans le reseau de communications; - fournir les services qui sont necessaires pour encourager les investissements dans l'industrie; - ameliorer l'image de la region pour attirer les investissements industriels et le tourisme. Les activites prevues dans le cadre du programme pour atteindre ces objectifs se subdivisent en quatre sous-programmes lies: 1. Developpement de sites industriels pour ameliorer l'amenagement des sites industriels et mettre en oeuvre des mesures de soutien au developpement des entreprises (developpement du potentiel endogene).
