Canada's air navigation system, known in aviation circles as the ANS, is a vast sprawling system of technology and human operators which grew out of the need to support an aviation system converting from military to commercial objectives following World War II. It had become evident that if commercial success were to be achieved, flights would have to be made possible in virtually any weather conditions.
