To make an effective contribution to achieving global sustainable development the EU and its Member States need to co-operate effectively with other countries and international institutions, including the OECD, the World Trade Organisation, the International Labour Organisation, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the United Nations Environment Programme.

In this context, special attention should be paid to the role of very short-lived substances, having regard, in particular, to the 2006 United Nations Environment Programme/World Meteorological Organisation (UNEP/WMO) ozone assessment, which concluded that the ozone-depleting potential of those substances is greater than previously assessed.

In this context, special attention should be paid to the role of very short-lived substances, in the light of the 2006 United Nations Environment Programme/World Meteorological Organisation (UNEP/WMO) ozone assessment, which concluded that the ozone depletion potential of these substances is greater than previously assessed.

2. The Agency shall also cooperate actively with other bodies such as the European Space Agency, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Council of Europe and the International Energy Agency as well as the United Nations and its specialised agencies, particularly the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Meteorological Organisation and the International Atomic Energy Authority.
2. L’Agence coopère aussi activement avec d’autres organismes tels que l’Agence spatiale européenne, l’Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques (OCDE), le Conseil de l’Europe, l’Agence internationale de l’énergie, l’Organisation des Nations unies et ses institutions spécialisées, et notamment le programme des Nations unies pour l’environnement, l’organisation météorologique mondiale et l’Agence internationale de l’énergie atomique.

7. Takes the view that the proposed exercise should focus first and foremost on the very aims of the multilateral trade system, to ensure that they are mutually supportive and consistent with the action being taken by other international organisations; considers in particular that the coordination of WTO activities with those of the International Labour Organization ( ILO), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Kyoto programme on renewable energy, should be strengthened, in order to ensure greater consistency in the decision-making processes of those organisations; in this connection, believes that the ILO should be granted observer status before the WTO and that a committee on trade and decent employment should be set up modelled on the Committee on Trade and Environment;
7. estime que l'exercice proposé devrait porter en premier lieu sur les finalités mêmes du système commercial multilatéral, dans un souci de cohérence avec l'action menée par d'autres organisations internationales; estime en particulier nécessaire de renforcer la coordination des activités de l'OMC avec celles de l'OIT, de l'Organisation des Nations unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (FAO), du Programme des Nations unies pour l'environnement (PNUE), du Programme des Nations unies pour le développement (PNUD) de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS), de la Conférence des Nations unies sur le commerce et le développement (Cnuced) et du Programme de Kyoto sur les énergies renouvelables, afin de garantir une plus grande cohérence dans les processus de prise de décision de ces organisations; est d'avis d'octroyer à l'OIT un statut d'observateur auprès de l'OMC et d'instituer un comité "commerce et travail décent" sur le modèle du comité "commerce et environnement";
