The terrible thing about this was that the internment was carried on for two years after the end of World War I. This was a sad day in our Canadian history. The member for Dauphin Swan River Marquette was determined to make sure that the Ukrainian Canadian family of people who immigrated to our country was recognized not only for their contributions but also that the internment was something that should never have happened (1655) These wonderful people, who have been a foundation of our country and who have done many things to help Canada, should not have had to endure this internment.
