I would like to say to the honourable Members that yesterday, on the occasion of the meeting of the Council of Ministers for Transport, I said that if the Council had modified the Commission’s initial proposed projects – even if it was a single modification, dealt with and supported by the Van Miert Group, but which had not initially been given the green light by the States – we would have to allow Parliament to act in a similar way.
Je voudrais dire aux honorables députés qu’hier, à l’occasion de la réunion du Conseil des ministres du transport, j’ai déclaré que si le Conseil avait modifié les projets initiaux proposés par la Commission - même s’il s’agissait d’une modification unique, débattue et soutenue par le groupe Van Miert, mais qui n’avait pas reçu le feu vert des États membres -, nous devrions autoriser le Parlement à faire de même.

Following on from what Mr Van Miert announced to the 15 Member States' Ministers for Industry on 7 November, the European Commission has now given the green light to a package of aid worth some LIT 258 billion - about ECU 130 million - for the closure of 2.5 million tonnes of capacity spread among 16 independent undertakings in northern Italy, most of them in the Brescia region.
Dans la foulée de ce que Karel Van Miert avait présenté aux Ministres de l'Industrie des Quinze, le 7 novembre dernier, la Commission européenne vient de donner le feu vert à un paquet d'aides de quelque 258 milliards de lires - soit environ 130 millions d'Ecus - pour compenser la fermeture de 2,5 millions de tonnes de capacités réparties sur seize entreprises indépendantes du Nord de l'Italie , dont la plupart se situent dans la région de Brescia.
