I may add as a general comment that I myself did not read the report by the U.S. State Department, but from what I have heard it was drafted before certain amendments were made to Quebec's legislation, which means that today, considering the rules of international courtesy and the scope of the comments made by the State Department, there is no good reason for making representations to the U.S. government.
J'ajouterais, parce que c'est un commentaire général, que je n'ai pas personnellement lu le rapport du Secrétariat d'État américain, mais d'après ce que j'en ai entendu, il a été rédigé avant certains amendements qui ont été apportés à la législation du Québec. Donc il n'y a pas, en ce moment, de bonnes raisons, ni dans le sens de la courtoisie internationale ni dans le sens peut-être des observations faites par le Département d'État, de faire des représentations auprès du gouvernement américain.
