So I've always taken the position that once you get the judiciary to do the job they're appointed to do, if you want to change that, you're going to have to change it not by changing the nature of the judge and by fishing for their political views so that you can exclude them from a particular post because of their views; what you do is you put the best qualified people forward, ones who are going to be fair, objective, and try the case on the merits, listen to the facts, apply the law as they see it, and do that in an objective way.
J'ai donc toujours estimé que si les juges voulaient bien faire le travail qu'on leur avait confié, et qu'on voulait changer la situation, il fallait non pas changer le type de juge qu'on avait, en cherchant à connaître leurs idées politiques de manière à exclure ceux qui ne cadraient pas avec les nôtres, mais bien choisir les meilleurs candidats, ceux qui seront justes, objectifs et qui évalueront les dossiers en fonction des faits, en écoutant ces faits, en appliquant la loi telle qu'ils la voient, de manière objective.
