I would say that if the Erika I and Erika II packages were fully implemented and all the measures this report proposes for the future applied over the next two years, we could rest secure in the knowledge that things had finally taken a turn for the better.

And by the same token I would like to thank the administration for their support, as this is an important subject, because despite the continuing high level of unemployment, unemployment and employment policy is generally not accorded the position it deserves here in the European Parliament and at European level.
Grosch (PPE ) , rapporteur pour avis de la commission économique et monétair e. - (DE) Monsieur le Président, tout d’abord je voudrais féliciter le rapporteur pour son travail et remercier les membres de la commission économique et monétaire, car le travail ne s’est vraiment pas déroulé dans les meilleures conditions, et pour cette raison, je voudrais également remercier l’administration pour son soutien, car le sujet est important et, en dépit du nombre des sans-emploi, qui continue d’être élevé, à mes yeux et aussi à ceux de la commission, le chômage et la politique de l’emploi en général n’ont toujours pas l’importance qu’ils méritent ici, au Parlement européen et au niveau européen.
