In the light of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, can the Commission explain the action it is taking to guarantee the safety and security of oil extraction operations and in the area of high-level environmental protection and disaster prevention in the EU?
Eu égard à la marée noire qui s’est produite dans le golfe du Mexique, la Commission peut-elle indiquer ce qu'elle fait pour assurer la sécurité des activités d'extraction pétrolière ainsi qu'un degré élevé de protection de l'environnement et la prévention des catastrophes dans l’UE ?

In the light of the positive observations made at that meeting, the Committee decided to enter in the work programme of the Subcommittee on Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG) and on the agenda for the tenth session of the BLG, scheduled to be held in April 2006, amendments to MARPOL Annex I for the prevention of marine pollution during oil transfer operations between ships at sea.

The exception shall also apply to gas turbines with multi-fuel combustion operated with light fuel oil as emergency fuel for less than 500 hours annually.
