For the protection and promotion of cultural heritage comprising urban historical sites and landscapes, which are an integral part of the cultural diversity that the Union is committed to respecting and promoting in accordance with Article 167(4) TFEU, the definitions and principles developed in relevant Council of Europe Conventions, in particular the European Convention for the Protection of the Archaeological Heritage of 6 May 1969, the Convention for the Protection of the Architectural Heritage of Europe of 3 October 1985, the European Landscape Convention of 20 October 2000, the Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society of 27 October 2005 can be useful.

To establish a suitable access to the Palace and to complement a splendid example of Baroque landscape architecture, the project proposes the completion of the original plans (submitted in 1766 by the French architect Jean Marmillod) with various adjustments so as to improve the overall impression of the castle and its surroundings.
