604-1755, historian Charles D. Mahaffie Jr. tells us that the Acadians of the Annapolis Valley made and signed the following oath in 1729: " I hereby promise and sincerely swear on my faith as a Christian that I will be wholly faithful and totally obedi
ent to His Majesty, King George II, whom I recognize as the sovereign of Nova Scotia

De plus, l'historien Charles D. Mahaffie, Jr., dans son livre A Land of Discord Always : Acadia from its Begining to the Expulsion of its People, (1604-1755), nous rappelle qu'en 1729, les Acadiens de la vallée d'Annapolis avaient prêté et signé le serment suivant : « Je promets et jure sincèrement, en foi de chrétien, que je serai entièrement fidèle et obéirai vraiment à Sa Majesté le roi George le second que je reconnais pour le souverain seigneur de la Nouvelle- Écosse et de l'Acadie».
