A. considérant que trois journalistes renommés - Nguyen Van Hai/Dieu Cay, Ta Phong Tan et Pan Thanh Hai - ont été condamnés à la prison le 24 septembre 2012; considérant que, au terme d'un appel, leur condamnation a été confirmée, à savoir 12, 10 et 3 ans de prison respectivement, suivis de plusieurs années d'assignation à résidence, pour avoir posté des articles sur le site web du Club vietnamien des journalistes libres;

Many of you have not been in this House before so I will just recall the action of the European journalists to set up a European Charter on Freedom of the Press. That was drawn up in order to help mainly the journalists in the new Member States and they had asked for this help from the journalistic community.

The European Union is deeply worried about the most recent attacks against the independent media in Kazakhstan, which include the repeated vandalising of TAN TV feeder cable in Almaty, the 3 May arson attack against the "Ak Zhaiy " publishing house in Atyrau, the aggression against two journalists of the newspaper "SolDat" on 21 May followed by the destruction of its equipment, and the firebomb attack against the offices of the newspaper "Delovoye Obozreniye-Respublika" on 22 May, which, furthermore, risked the lives of many people in the same building.
L'Union européenne est profondément préoccupée par les attaques lancées tout récemment contre les médias indépendants au Kazakhstan, parmi lesquels figurent des actes de vandalisme commis à plusieurs reprises contre le câble d'alimentation de la chaîne de télévision TAN à Almaty, l'incendie volontaire de la maison d'édition "Ak Zhaiy", perpétré le 3 mai à Atyrau, l'agression, le 21 mai, de deux journalistes du quotidien "SolDat", suivie de la destruction des équipements du quotidien, et l'attentat à la bombe incendiaire perpétré le 22 mai contre les bureaux du quotidien "Delovoye Obozreniye-Respublika", qui a en outre mis en danger la vie de nombreuses personnes qui se trouvaient dans le bâtiment.
