My response to these questions is that we do not need to reject our past, nor to abandon the reality of the history and pioneering work of those who have gone before us in our privileged land, from the First Nations through the era commencing with Samuel de Champlain, through the line of British governorships starting with James Murray, through representative government, the governorship of Viscount Monck and onward through Confederation until today.
Ma réponse à ces questions, c'est que nous n'avons pas besoin de rejeter notre passé, d'abandonner la réalité de notre histoire et du travail de pionnier de ceux qui sont arrivés avant nous sur notre terre privilégiée, à partir des Premières nations jusqu'à l'arrivée de Samuel de Champlain, en passant par l'ensemble des gouverneurs britanniques, à commencer par James Murray, par le gouvernement représentatif, le mandat du vicomte Monck en tant que gouverneur, et jusqu'à aujourd'hui en passant par la Confédération.
